On November 2nd, USCIS announced that they have updated their guide for new immigrants entitled, “Welcome to the United States: A Guide for New Immigrants“. This newly published guide gives practical advice and information to help immigrants settle into life here in the United States. The guide is now available in 14 different languages.
Updates include:
• Revised and updated general information on policies, programs and resources;
You may now use an approved credit card to pay your Application for Naturalization (N-400) fees. You must use the form G-1450, Authorization for Credit Card Transaction, fill it out and place it on top of your N-400 form when filing. There is no additional fee charged for using your credit card to pay for your N-400 fees. Note: USCIS will destroy your Form G-1450 after processing your payment, regardless if your application is accepted or rejected.
Acceptable Credit Cards: Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover are approved for use. You may also use gift cards with Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover logos.

If you are searching for “English as a Second Language” or “Citizenship” classes in your local area try using the America’s Literacy Directory (ALD). First you choose the type of class/classes you are looking for, then just type in your zip code or city/state and active the search. If the directory locates a training source within your local area it will list the details. You can also generate a map and driving directions for all programs listed in the ALD.
America’s Literacy Directory (ALD) is a web site that allows users to find local literacy providers in all 50 states and the U.S. territories. The ALD includes literacy programs for adults looking for adult basic education, adult secondary education, computer literacy and English as a Second Language.

Constitution Day and Citizenship Day are observed on the same day each year, September 17th. This day is set aside to celebrate the signing of the U.S. Constitution in 1787 and also to observe and recognize the responsibilities of all U.S. citizens!
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) marked this occasion by holding special naturalization ceremonies across the country starting on September 17th and ending on September 23rd. This year more than 36,000 new citizens will take their oath during more than 200 naturalization ceremonies across the country. Many of the ceremonies will be held using museums, historic and public libraries, government landmarks and national park sites as their backdrop.
