On Tuesday, June 30th, the Governor of Delaware, Jack Markell signed a new law, allowing certain undocumented immigrants living in Delaware to gain driving privileges.

This new law allows for a driving privilege card to be issued to undocumented immigrants who:

(1) have filed Delaware state income tax returns for the last two (2) years; OR (2) have lived in Delaware and have been claimed as a dependent on a Delaware state income tax return.

The Immigration Policy Center (IPC) has released all fifty states, the District of Columbia and the United States (Overall), for a total of fifty-two updated fact sheets with accompanying info graphics and other details. These fact sheets highlight the demographic and economic impact of Immigrants, Asians and Latinos in each state. The Immigration Policy Center (IPC) is the research and policy division of the American Immigration Council (AIC).

As Washington D.C. continues the discussion of Comprehensive Immigration Reform, we thought that it would be a good time to provide some statistics on the Immigrant population in the United States as provided by this IPC research. Once a week we will be posting a blog with information on three states at a time. This week we will highlight; Arkansas, California & Colorado.

From July 1st to July 4th, the USCIS is holding over 50 naturalization ceremonies across the U.S. to help celebrate the 4th of July holiday! It’s expected the over 4000 new citizens will be administered the Oath of Allegiance during these ceremonies. USCIS Director León Rodríguez stated, “From Los Angeles to New York, Miami to Seattle, Indianapolis to Los Alamos, these individuals are showing their full commitment to the freedoms, values and ideals that have inspired Americans since the Declaration of Independence in 1776.”
