The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will be holding a national webinar, “USCIS Immigrant Investor Program (EB-5) Stakeholder Engagement” on Monday, February 20, 2023, between 1:30 to 3:00 pm (Eastern). The webinar (Stakeholder Engagement) will include USCIS representatives who will discuss three specific areas within the Immigrant Investor Program: Direct and Third-Party Promoters, Investment Period and Regional Center Operations! They will also have a Q&A session at the end of the engagement on the three discussed subjects.

USCIS Webinar – H-1B Electronic Registration Process (2/23/23)

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will be holding a national webinar, “H-1B Electronic Registration Process” on Thursday, February 23, 2023, between 2:00 to 3:00 pm (Eastern). The webinar will include USCIS representatives who will provide updates on the online account features for the FY 2024 H-1B Electronic Registration Process! They will also spend time answering some of the participants questions, you must submit questions in advance at public.engagement@uscis.dhs.gov by noon Eastern, Wednesday, February 8th, please put “H-1B Electronic Registration” in the subject line before submitting.

Immigrants in each State (fact sheets): AL, AK and AZ – Update

The American Immigration Council (AIC) has released all fifty states and the District of Columbia, for a total of fifty-one updated state-by-state fact sheets highlighting immigration data and facts. These fact sheets highlight the demographic and economic impact of Immigrants in each state.

With national immigration policy being discussed, we thought that it would be a good time to provide some statistics on the Immigrant population in the United States as provided by this AIC research. Once a week we will be posting a blog with information on three states at a time. This week we will highlight; Alabama, Alaska and Arizona!

The AIC has compiled research which shows that Immigrants are an essential part of each of these states’ economy, labor force and tax base. As our economy continues to grow, Immigrants and their children are a growing economic and political force as consumers, taxpayers and entrepreneurs. As United States economic continues to grow, immigrants and their children will continue to play a key role in shaping the economic and political future of each of these states.

Secretary Mayorkas Extends and Redesignates Somalia for TPS

On Thursday, January 12, 2023, the Department of Homeland Security announced that they were extending the designation of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for the country of Somalia for 18 months. Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro N. Mayorkas stated, “Through the extension and redesignation of Somalia for Temporary Protected Status, the United States will be able to offer safety and protection to Somalis who may not be able to return to their country, due to ongoing conflict and the continuing humanitarian crisis,”.

FY 2024 H-1B Cap Initial Registration Period Opens on March 1

On Friday, January 27th, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that the initial registration period for the fiscal year (FY) 2024 H-1B cap will opening soon! This initial registration period starts on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at noon (Eastern) and will continue until Friday, March 17, 2023, at noon (Eastern). Note that USCIS will assign a confirmation number for each registration that you submit for this cap.

Eligible to Naturalize Fact Sheets: Vermont, New York-Newark-Jersey City, NY-NJ CBSA and Puerto Rico

These fact sheets provide information on select characteristics of people with Lawful Permanent Residence (LPR) status, also known as Green Card holders in the different regions of the country. USCIS Extends COVID-19-related Flexibilities – Update 1/24/23

USCIS announced on Tuesday, January 24th, that they were extending the Flexibilities that they originally announced in March 2020. These flexibilities are for responding to certain requests from the USCIS, some are listed below:
